Carrell Group Wins First Place In International Icf Competition
Carrell Group’s Florence, South Carolina project was recently recognized as one of the most innovative ICF projects in the country. The honor was presented as part of the ICF Builder Awards, an international competition designed to showcase the advantages of building with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs). Carrell Group was awarded first place in the “Unlimited Residential Division.” Projects are recognized for outstanding innovation, quality and craftsmanship in ICF construction. ICF systems reduce energy costs, block exterior noise, are resilient against high winds, and are considered a “green building” technique. The Carrell Group has built nearly 75 ICF homes in the Carolinas, with several more under construction at the current time.

Carrell Group- Only General Contractor Showcased At Hurricane Expo and Featured On WBTW-13 News As Resident Expert On Hurricane Reinforced Construction.
In June 2010, the Carrell Group participated in the Coastal Hurricane Expo at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The event focused on hurricane preparedness and reactionary procedures. As the builder of the most Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) homes in the Carolinas, the Carrell Group showcased its ICF wall systems for superior hurricane resistance. The local news, WBTW-13, South Carolina Insurance Reporting Service, and Institute of Building and Home Safety used the Carrell Group as its resident expert on FORTIFIED building, which included news reports from Carrell’s Grande Dunes construction projects. WBTW-13 (CBS) filmed Carrell’s FORTIFIED homes under construction, and interviewed our President/Founder, Bruce Carrell, for the story. The FORTIFIED designation increases the cost of a home approximately 5%, but saves significant insurance dollars (sometimes 25% or more) and protects homes in some of the most severe weather conditions. We believe that ICF, Impact Glass, and FORTIFIED construction are worth the additional costs and will continue to increase in popularity as hurricane seasons loom. With construction costs at an all time low, now is the ideal time to build “Hurricane Resistant.”
